Period poverty causes physical, mental, and emotional challenges, including shame and stigma surrounding menstruation, preventing individuals from openly discussing their needs. Those who experience period poverty are often unable to purchase the necessary menstrual products, which can prevent them from participating in daily life, such as going to school or work. ![]() This can result from a range of life events that negatively affect a person's ability to manage their menstruation. Endometriosis most often affects the reproductive organs, but it can also be found in the bowel, bladder, muscles, joints, lungs, and brain. We also believe that the statistic "1 in 10 assigned female at birth with endometriosis" is significantly higher due to underreporting, misdiagnosis, and a lack of non-invasive diagnostic methods.
