Let it roam near a Dodo pen and the dodos will be encouraged by their new neighbour to lay eggs more often. Not only can it assist the Survivor with stealing eggs from other dinos, it can help encourage local tame dinos to lay eggs more often. If there were ever foxes in Ark, the Oviraptor would come as close to the personality of one.The Dodo can easily be persuaded with Berries however the Terror Bird can kill you which makes them dangerous to tame. The only true problem lies in taming the Terror Bird. Both lay eggs, are easy to breed and has good resources including: Meat or in Primitive Plus Fresh Poultry, and Feathers. Dodo and Terror Bird are the chickens of Ark.They can also act as a Makeshift Baby Alarm, take note that false alarms will occur such as a wandering Oviraptor or Diplodocus pushing around any tames. The Parasaur will signal its owner who may then prepare their defences. The Survivor can implement this instinct by setting the tame Parasaur into a Turret-mode to see where the nearby danger or intruder is. Their cowardly nature has good reasons to explain this spontaneous behaviour, due to their ability to sense dangerous creatures from a distance. They are known for their skittish nature of running from anything that they consider dangerous. Parasaur are among other creatures the player will most likely encounter early in the game. The saddle offers as a toolkit that works like a mobile Mortar and Pestle. They are easy to tame by riding on their backs then passively feeding Rockarrots. With an Equus Saddle and a Lasso, a player riding the Equus can use the Lasso to catch and pull a small or medium size creature quickly away to be fed and tamed additionally Equus can be good for rescuing another player who may have fallen into a deep pit. The Equus is the horse in Ark and has a weight reduction bonus carrying certain materials such as Stone, Sand and Cactus. Each creature can be effectively utilized and not every one of them needs to be a fighter or heavy lifter.Īfter taming these creatures, you can place them in a confined area either in fenced off land, or a structure that acts like a barn or stable to protect them from wandering away or being attacked. Domesticating or Taming dinos helps in many ways: carrying heavy loads of resources like wood or metal, gathering food, protection from other dangerous creatures. I'm on my own private server in a good area and thus have zero safety issues (currently) from wild dino or player attacks.During their time spent on the Arks, most Survivor learned that coexistence has benefits. (because I kinda suck at being creative like that). I haven't experimented much with this technique and don't know if there are other options. This is definitely ugly!ĭoes anyone have any other ideas to allow the dino's to enter such a pen? I suppose the only option really is to put in a dino gate? These are just so huge and unslightly and don't seem to fit in well with low fencerails/posts. And then realized that my pteranadon couldn't lift my tamed Phiomia :PĬurrently, I have been forced to leave one foundation in place, so that I could attach a ramp on the outside of the pen (demolishing the foundation removes the ramp too) to be able to get them inside the pen. I have built a larger pen for my Phiomia's, using the same techniques. Which is kinda fun, because now I just catch them wild, drop them in the pen and tame them from there :P I solved getting Dodo's into the empty pen by simply flying them in via pteranadon. It is not possible to take out a fence post and then put one back in, as the foundation won't line up (snap?) to the rest of the structure. Anyone who has tried this knows that you have to create the entire pen in one move. The only real problem I had in the beginning was, there was no entry point for the Dodo's once the fenceposts were done. Only problem is, I can't allow the Dodo's to wander :/ One of them always manages to find a way out. I have made a Dodo pen using fenceposts (by using the thatch foundation + fence foundation on top of that - demolish foundation). I'm slowly building up my ranch/farm whatever it is turning into.
